Tain Bo Cuailnge is sometimes described as the national epic of antient Ireland. In fact it is a prose epic (with a very poor epic structure) from a country which had hardly begun to think of itself as one nation.

22.09.2015 в 16:44И насчет национального самосознания Ирландцев - тож очень может быть, что оно сформировалось сугубо в противовес тому, что "мы не проклятые англичане", что было, разумеется, значительно позже.
Хотя с другой стороны, ну была ж у них идея верховного короля всего острова. Значит, таки осознавались как-то? Но с другой стороны - он прав, в том, что "Похищение" это сугубо Ульстерская эпическая (что бы то ни было). Общенациональной она ну никак же быть не может.
